  • Election of Cllr A Rashid as Lord Mayor of Birmingham
  • It is with great pleasure and pride that we announce the election of a Member of our Academy's Management Committee (MCA), Councillor Chauhdry A Rashid, JP, BA Soc. Sc., as the Lord-Mayor Designate of Birmingham. His Installation Ceremonies are scheduled to be held in City of Birmingham's Council Chamber on Tuesday, 20 May 2008. Read more >>
  • Good news : Sheikh Zaki Yamani Medallion
  • The Academy has received a very generous donation from the great philanthropist H.E. Sheikh Ahmed Zaki Yamani, the former Oil Minister of Saudi Arabia, and a distinguished supporter of Professor Schimmel's life-long work on Islamic literature and culture, whose name from now on will be attached to our Academy's Series of Annemarie Schimmel Memorial Lectures.   • Launch of Prof. Durrani's book
  • At the above meeting was also launched Prof. Saeed Durrani's book: Gulshan-i Ráz-i Jadíd (The New Garden of Mystery) by Iqbal, translated by the late Professor A.J. Arberry, with annotations and variant translations by Professor Durrani. The book also carried the original Persian text as well as Arberry's MS translation. Read more >>
